South Korea started off well by scoring an early goal in the 7th minutes of the game. In this Korean dominated half, the greeks managed to pull a few good save to ensure the score was kept at 1-0. Despite winning 6 corners in the first half, it was an amazing that the greeks has only a goal on target in this half.
The second half kicked off with a repeated early goal. Seven minutes into the second half (52nd minute), the Korean scored again! This time, Jisung, the 29-year-old won possession 30 yards from goal, took on the last defender, and sailed the ball past the advancing keeper.
Despite being world number 13, Greece has clearly been outclassed by the South Koreans. In order to excel beyond the group stages, a lot of work and reorganisation of the team is needed to be done by the former European Champions before their next game against Nigeria.
Final Score: Korea Republic 2 Greece 0
Scorer: Jungsoo 7th minute
Jisung 52nd minute
Man of the Match: 7 Jisung (Korea Republic)
